Suzie,

If you have been unhappy, there might be things your doctor can do in order to help. Some experts say Chantix causes the bad mood, others say it is the changes in behavior from not smoking.

When I quit, I went to school and almost have an associate now. If you are depressed, do not wait to try to get help.

If you want a smoke and you are still on Chantix, smoke it. You will get negative feedback. If you are not on Chantix, then you will most likely get hooked again after just that one, Chantix helps you not get addicted again.

Your doctor and those around you should support you to stay quit, there is no single benefit for you to keep smoking except for the immediate pleasure. There is death later, lack of quality of life and even a slow painful death from surgeries and lung problems that you suffocate until you die.

If you -ever- feel suicidal, call the doctor or visit the ER. I feel your pain that after six months you are not happy. I suggest talking to a doctor, my advice is to stick with it.
Three years later and I still have a dream or two and want to smoke.I still have not had one, even two years after Chantix.

In the end Suzie, if you smoke again--- please try to quit again, it is never too late to quit. I don't have the time, but I read that nicotine actually makes tumors grow faster. Please let me know how things go, I do this blog for my health and yours!

My wife wishes you luck, she had just patches and quit while with child. She enjoyed smoking and we thought we would kill each other. We now cuddle and breathe happily that we no longer need to smoke to reward ourselves for life. Read on the rest of my blog if you have not, otherwise, I am always happy to chat with people even on the phone!

i disagree. since i gave up almost 5 months ago i have been a completely different person. i am depressed and unhappy and am convinced that it is the not being able to smoke that is doing it. i am seriously considering having a cigarette and being a smoker again. i would rather be a smoker than lose my partner and be unhappy like this forever. its dreadful. I am not substituting cigarettes with food but i am gaining weight too which is killing my self esteem also.

My situation so far has been a lot like alex's. I have two smoker friends (who are also my best friends) that just don't seem to give a damn that I'm making such a tough decision. One replied, "Well then....I will not be joining you!" and the other said I'll give you both (my quitting partner and I) a month before you're smoking again. Its almost awkward to ride around in the car with them before and after work...and it feels like there's this atmosphere of "them against me." Almost as if one says "hey, want a cigarette? too bad Russ won't be enjoying one with us."

i don't know how our relationship is going to change, but hopefully we can look past this soon or else i just might lose my two best friends : (

I am so proud of you! That blog is what helped me. It was the first place I found where others were scared, hopeful, cynical, and TRUTHFUL that Chantix is not all fun and is NOT an EASY way out- and it was just a place to express where you were human and hurting. It was the most important tool besides the actual pill for me. I have not even so much as reached for a cigarette, and it's been over a year (I still have the last empty bottle!). It's almost like I got reprogrammed to what I was before. Congrats to you, though. Like I have said in the other blog: when I quit cocaine (in my early 20s, 10 years ago- and this was a $5K/week habit - ouch) it was NOTHING in comparison to how hard quitting smoking is. Take a look back at some of your first posts about it. Isn't it great to see how much you have grown?? Kudos, mate. ~brandi Dallas, TX

Here is a tip for all trying to quit

(this blog helped me so I figured I would add my input in hopes that it helps someone as well. Thanks Phreaki!)

READ Allen Carr's book "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking" ALONG with taking Chantix.
It makes it even easier than Chantix alone. The book teaches you that it is not will power to not smoke BUT is freedom from cigarettes that you celebrate. If you start out by just trying to make it through one day at a time...it will be really tough. It is a mind game and you need to celebrate your freedom from the nasty grasp of the nicotine. It is an excellent book that definitely helps...An easy read as well

I am a NON SMOKER and have been since July
I WILL NEVER GO BACK!

Best of luck to all
Be proud of yourselves and relish the fact that you no longer smoke!!

P.S.
I am LOVING the dreams from the Chantix
Excitement every night...never know what I will dream of
Should be my last month on Chantix...I will miss the dreams

WOW!!!! I thought of you guys for some reason and realized I have ONE YEAR SMOKE FREE on the 15th. For ANY of you afraid- it is HARD. It is harder than when I quit coke in college! It is an acceptable poison, which makes it tougher. BUT YOU CAN DO IT!!! I am SO proud of anyone even READING this as it means you WANT to better your life. I got stats from QuitNet and it said 352 days smoke free, 14089 Cigarettes NOT smoked, 3 months, 17 days, 14 hours of my Lifetime Saved and WOW $4,048.00 Saved!!! To be honest, Chantix did adversely affect me depression wise. I talked with my doctor and have started Wellbutrin. His explanation was that was the lure to cigarettes in the first place (dopamine imbalance) so instead of self medicating, I am taking care of the root of the problem and have never been in a better place. You guys WILL do it. It takes 50 times to quit- you don't just walk away. It sucks- it's dark- it's lonely (cause you have screamed at everyone, haha) but that light at the end of the tunnel is THERE. You just didn't know your path bends a couple of times, so you can't see it. BEST of luck, guys! YOU really helped me those first few days- I was a GONER. CHEERS!!! :) brandi97, Dallas, TX

Thanks for being the first to read my blog post and the nice comments regarding style. I have only changed the blog once to this new design.

Google's Android phone will support Java I think, so that might be a route for you later. I use the iPhone for lots of homework, I can login to Franklin if I want and easily read when I have nothing to do and no computer.

I have not finished the next to last stage of Spore but find it a refreshing change. You take such pride in the work that you do on the design of your creature, it makes you really think and be creative.

Is it worth the $49? My wife and I both agree. With what little time I have had to play, at least there is no online charges like with EQ, WoW, or AoC.
